Drinking Diet Coke Does Not Mean You’re On A Diet

Remember- the taller you are, the easier it is to be slender. But trust me, you still have to work at it.

James Duigan has been Elle Macpherson’s personal trainer for the last 15 years and he’s recently revealed the secrets behind her enviable figure. He believes that the first step to weight loss is a strong commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

Duigan offers these tips to lose weight and stick to your diet:

*Make the commitment! Find the determination to make changes to your eating habits and, most importantly, to stick to your diet.

*Eat clean and lean – eliminate processed foods from your diet.

*You need to eat lean and clean. Once you get that right, everything else will fall into place.

*Cut out wheat and sugar. Eating processed, low-fat food and drinking diet coke does not mean you’re on a diet.

“It’s not fat that makes you fat, it’s sugar.”

Duigan doesn’t believe in diets that make you count calories, measure portions or ban certain foods. He thinks these types of diets are a waste of time and a solution to lose weight, but only for a short period of time.

*Find the exercise that works best for you. Not everybody can do certain exercises so it’s better to experiment and find those exercises that fit you.

His last tip is to stretch before bed, it’ll help you get a flat tummy.

Duigan is a real believer in these tips, saying that if these are followed properly, anyone can get to have a fit body in about a month.

And trust me- they believe that EVERY OUNCE COUNTS.

Losing Weight 101- What’s Eating You?

So today I handled a situation that I normally would have stressed about for months and let the constant aggravation make me crazy. I would usually suck up the disregarding attitude toward me and wait and hope the person would do the right thing. I simply stated the options that were available now that worked for me.

One option put me in a worse financial state, and the other one, much better. But going in, I knew either way MY LIFE would be better. I CHOSE HAPPINESS. I chose it over money and convenience. I stood up for me, what was right, and HAPPINESS. I love that word.

So why tell you all this? Because it screams out “the monster under the bed” of why we overeat. “IT’S NOT WHAT YOU’RE EATING, IT’S WHAT’S EATING YOU.” So I ask you today, find a quiet space and write down a list of what’s eating you. Split this list into 3 sections. Title them Handle It Today, Handle It This Month, and find a way to Handle It All Together.

This last section is for the big stuff, a job you can’t leave right away, a relationship, an illness, or a behavior on your part you are struggling with.

Under Handle It Today, you might just be moving your desk at work, or throwing something away that gets in your way, or planning a night out with the girls that will give a spot of HAPPINESS on the horizon (this is HUGE for me- I must have my next happy spot on the calendar). By the time you get through the first two sections your emotional muscles will be strong enough to support you through the last section.

If a pencil holder is in a place that bugs you… move it. If a person is in a place that bugs you … move that, too.

Launch Pads for Weight Loss

Every rocket needs a LAUNCH PAD to get off the ground. And so do we in our path to weight management and control process.

So where do these launch pads come from? I’m sure you, my beloved reader, have had a shift in your life happen, and all of the sudden you’re on a roll and it seems like nothing can make you eat wrong. Then just as suddenly, or so it seems, you’re in a downward spiral and all your “MOJO” is history.

So since we all dream and drool over the  thought of quick weight loss, what if we could CREATE OUR OWN  launch pads? What if we can learn to design scenarios in our world that position us on a launch pad of our own.

Well … I’ll give you some that I build into my life to lose weight and get exercise. But if we, as a village, share all these ideas, we can build some very strong Launch pads. More importantly, we go PAD HOPPING and try out different ideas. Remember- RUT and BOREDOM ARE DEMONS .

Here is a list of my mini launch pads to get me motivated again and again.

1. Exercise with a friend

2. Buy something a bit tight and try it on each morning

3. Plan a night out on the town  where I want to look my best

4. Book a DR.s appt know ing he helps me with my weight struggle

5. Help other women with understanding where they are in their weight loss path

6. See my therapist for a check up on my head

7. Pick a stressor and remove it

8. DIET COKE? Yup. It tickles my tongue and the caffeine gives me a lift, and it feels like a treat so I get a sprinkle of satisfaction.

Sometimes all we can muster is a temporary fix. But enough temporary fixes can get a through a tough time until we are able to stay on track.
